St. Joan’s School, Newtown had the honour of welcoming His Excellency, the Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Kolkata, along with members of his consular team to our campus.

Our students showcased a delightful cultural programme—singing the melodious Chinese folk song Moli Hua (Jasmine Flower), Michael Jackson’s timeless We Are the World, and dancing to a cheerful Chinese nursery rhyme. Their performance reflected the spirit of global harmony and cultural appreciation.

His Excellency also enjoyed a few friendly tennis strokes on our campus courts and was truly impressed by our students and the excellent facilities. In a warm and thoughtful gesture, he distributed chocolates to all the students, much to their joy!

He conveyed his best wishes to the school and expressed hope for its continued growth and success.

While we are yet to begin the Chinese language program at our Newtown campus—unlike our Salt Lake branch—we look forward to starting it soon and further strengthening this meaningful bond.
