St. Joan’s School is a co-educational English Medium Higher Secondary School affiliated to CISCE, New Delhi offering Bio-Science, Computer Science, Social Science and Commerce at the Higher Secondary level. Emphasis is put on academic rigour at the school and a structured routine of extra and co-curricular activities supports students bring out their personal best. Right from the inception of their academic journey, students are groomed in such a way, that teaching, and learning becomes a part of their daily routine and assessments from an early age prepares them for an ever-changing competitive world.
The Kindergarten section of the school i.e. St. Joan’s K.G. School which was a preparatory school then was founded on 29 January 1987 by Mrs. Debjani Ghosh who had a vision to provide quality and holistic education. The first batch of the school started with students from age group 2+ years to 5+ years. During the long spell of years children were given a strong academic foundation which formed a basis for their admission into reputed schools like St. Xavier’s Collegiate School, Don Bosco School, Modern High School, Auxillium Convent, Dum Dum etc.
Gradually to cater to the demand for quality education the school was upgraded into a Higher Secondary school in phases and is the fruit of a strong endeavour.
The current school building was inaugurated by His Excellency Mr.K.V. Raghunatha Reddy, the Governor of West Bengal on 20th April 1997 & the school started functioning from 16th June 1997, from Class I to VIII.
The first batch of students appeared for their ICSE (Class 10) exams in 2000. The ISC (Class XI & XII) sections with two streams Science and Commerce commenced in April 2005 and the first batch of Class 12 students of both streams appeared for their ISC (Class 12) exams in 2007.
Over the years the school has established a name for itself as a leading High School known for its academic excellence and all rounded development of its students.
