St. Joan’s School announced that a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed by Managing Trustee Debjani Ghosh, in the presence of Vice Principal Lucia Gupta and Trustee Jacinta Sureka. This marked the beginning of an exciting Collaboration with Guangzhou Electromechanical Technician College (GETC).

St. Joan’s School, Kolkata, recently attended the launching ceremony of the Alliance of Guangzhou International Sister-City, joining esteemed partners from the United Kingdom, South Africa, Philippines, Vietnam, and Thailand. Represented by Trustee Jacinta Sureka, Academic Coordinator and Head of Robotics Minakshi Singh Roy, and Year 12 students Mayank Dhar and Swapnodip Ghosh, the school reaffirmed its commitment to the alliance, having signed the MOU in November 2023.
This partnership aspires to elevate educational standards through the exchange of best practices and the implementation of innovative teaching methodologies, with a particular emphasis on Robotics and AI. St. Joan’s School aims to provide students with unique cross-cultural experiences and global perspectives, thereby enhancing academic programs and fostering a lifelong commitment to learning.
The collaboration will facilitate the exchange of resources and expertise, supporting curriculum development, teacher training, and the vision of St. Joan’s School in establishing a state-of-the-art vocational and technical school in Kolkata. This initiative is in alignment with the ‘Make in India’ and ‘Viksit Bharat’ goals, promoting technological education and innovation.
During the three-day exchange, students observed the 47th World Skills competition at the Guangzhou Education and Technology Center (GETC). Participants in Autonomous Mobile Robotics hailed from China, Japan, Korea, South Africa, and Macau, while Robot System Integration included teams from China, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Brazil, and Chinese Taipei. The event featured a grand welcome dinner, introductions to alliance members, and a tour of GETC’s faculties, showcasing cutting-edge departments and prominent manufacturers.

Present at the ceremony were senior officials from GETC, partner institutions, and Heads of Diplomatic Missions from the Philippines, Korea, and Thailand.
